AMSTERDAM (AP) - Dutch police say they have arrested a 19-year-old Romanian woman in connection with a major art heist from the Kunsthal gallery in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
In a statement, Rotterdam police said the woman arrested Monday was suspected “of involvement in hiding the seven paintings” by Matisse, Gauguin, Picasso and Monet, among others.
Three Romanian men were arrested in Bucharest in January on suspicion of involvement and remain in custody _ but the paintings have not been recovered.
Police believe the works were brought to a home in Rotterdam where the woman was staying and removed from their frames shortly after the theft.
They said two of the men arrested were recorded on Kunsthal cameras acting suspiciously days before the Oct. 17 heist.
Romanian and Dutch investigators are cooperating on the case.
