A Silver Spring man is charged with attempted murder after police said he shot another man while high on PCP and then climbed naked onto a fire truck parked in a busy Calverton shopping center.
Prince George's County police used a Taser on the man, identified as 24-year-old Mohamed Sulaiman Bah, to get him into custody Wednesday night at the Calverton Shopping Center.
Police said they were called to the scene of a car crash in the 11900 block of Beltsville Drive and discovered a man in the back seat of the car who had been shot. Officers then found Mr. Bah in the parking lot of the shopping center, several blocks away from the scene of the crash. He had taken off his clothes and climbed atop a fire truck that was in the parking lot and refused to come down. After a period of time, Mr. Bah came down from the fire truck and an officer used a Taser to subdue him.
Police said they recovered the gun used in the shooting and charged Mr. Bah with attempted murder, first-degree assault and other charges.
The man who was shot was listed in critical condition, police said. Officials were expected to provide further details about the entire incident Thursday afternoon.
Maryland court records show Mr. Bah spent two months in jail for possession of a controlled substance in 2011 and got 10 months probation in 2009 for an attempt to distribute a controlled substance.
