Islamists attacked a group of kissing couples in a Turkish metro station to protest a morality campaign by the authorities in Ankara, the nation’s capital, local media reported on Sunday.

At least one person was stabbed as about 20 Islamists, chanting, “Allah Akhbar,” and carrying knives, attacked the demonstrators on Saturday, the Egypt Independent reports.

The protest came after Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) admonished a young couple for kissing in the street.
