The head of a Russian arms manufacturer said on Friday that he’s in the final stages of a contract to sell at least 10 fighter jets to Syria.

Sergei Korotkov, general director of a Russian MiG company, said he’s meeting with a delegation of Syrian government heads in Moscow to discuss the terms of the sale, The Associated Press reported. He said the deal involves at least 10 MiG-29 M/M2 fighter jets, AP said.

Mr. Korotkov put the number at “more than 10,” but did not specify, AP reported.

Russia has stated on prior occasions that it only had plans to fulfill arms deals with Syria that were already forged — not make new ones.
