The man who kidnapped 9-year-old Katie Beers and kept her in a Bay Shore, N.Y., dungeon in 1993 was been found dead in his prison cell just hours after meeting with his parole board, a local television station reported.

The news comes just one day after Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro hanged himself in his jail cell.

Officials are investigating the death of John Esposito, 63, even though they believe he died from natural causes.

Miss Beers, now 30, told News 12 Long Island that the news of her captor’s death will help her move on.

“Just knowing the simple fact he will never get out of prison. He will never get to harm anyone else ever,” she said.

Esposito kept Miss Beers in a 6-foot-by-7-foot concrete bunker under his garage in Bay Shore, concealed by a 200-pound concrete trap door that he had built specifically for the child, the New York Times reported at the time.

Esposito was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. He died the same day of his parole hearing to see if we would be set free after 20 years, the station reported.
