TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. (AP) - The skier who died after a crash at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort was a part-time resident from Utah.

Thirty-one-year-old Peiter (PEE’-ter) Swanson apparently hit a tree and then fell about 40 feet in the Pair-A-Chutes area on Monday. His death is being investigated by the resort’s ski patrol, the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office said Swanson had been living in Cottonwood Heights, Utah but his family is from Germansville, Penn.

The Jackson Hole Daily (http://bit.ly/1gYznpV ) reports that Swanson is the first skier to die at the resort this season. In December, a man died in an avalanche just beyond the resort’s boundary.
