MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Minot State football players, boosters and the school’s athletic director want head coach Todd Hoffner to stay.

Hoffner is deciding whether to go back to Minnesota State University, Mankato, after a judge ruled the school wrongly fired him after charges were dismissed in an unfounded child pornography case.

Minot State AD Rick Hedberg says the university hasn’t made contingency plans for the possibility of losing Hoffner. He says Hoffner’s still the coach, though he expects him to make a decision on his future “in the next few days.”

Booster Maynard Sandberg hopes the fact that Hoffner’s parents live about 80 miles away in Esmond will be a factor in Hoffner’s decision.

Freshman defensive lineman Tanner Gust says players aren’t talking about it. He says Hoffner “has been through a lot.”
