RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Authorities in western South Dakota are investigating a series of credit card skimmers found inside gas pumps.

Skimmers are small devices placed on the pumps that can steal credit card information when consumers swipe a debit or credit card.

The Rapid City Police Department says the skimmers were discovered at gas stations in and around the city.

Police say there skimmers found in the area were placed inside the pumps where they were not visible to consumers. Authorities are working with gas stations to try to locate and remove any additional skimmers.

Police say no consumers have reported being victims of the scam. Authorities recommend that people monitor their bank accounts for any signs of fraudulent activity.
