BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Health Department has revised two reports to fix information that incorrectly stated the increase in heroin use in 2012.

The original information was contained in Dec. 15, 2013 and Jan. 15 reports to committees of the Vermont Legislature by Health Commissioner Dr. Harry Chen.

The original reports said heroin use increased 35 percent in Vermont in 2012.

They were later corrected to say “the number of people receiving treatment in (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs) system of care for heroin addiction increased by 35 percent from 2011 to 2012.”

The Health Department’s Nancy Erickson says the mistake was pointed out by department staff.
