D.C. police are investigating the discovery Wednesday of two bodies underneath an Interstate 295 bridge in Southeast.

Someone called police to report seeing a man’s body near an on-ramp to the highway and close to the 2200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast just after 9 a.m.

After locating the body, an officer was conducting a canvass of the area and found a second man’s body about 50 feet away, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Officer Araz Alali said.

There were no signs of foul play and officers are investigating whether the men were homeless, Officer Alali said.

A cause of death has not been determined and the men have not been identified.
