FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Police are investigating a reported robbery that resulted in a toddler being shot in the leg.

WEYI-TV and The Flint Journal report Thursday that the mother of the 19-month-old girl didn’t realize her daughter was hurt until an hour after the Wednesday night shooting in Flint.

State police detective Robert Dunham tells the newspaper that someone tried to rob the girl’s mother and her boyfriend while they were sitting in a car. Shots were fired at the car when the couple drove off.

The mother noticed her daughter was bleeding when she took the child from her car seat. The girl was in serious condition Thursday at Hurley Medical Center.

No arrests have been made.
