ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A judge has postponed a 23-year-old Carlin man’s murder trial until September and ordered him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Brant Alan Davis is accused of killing his mother, Teresa Black, by shooting her in the head in March 2013.

He’s also charged with attempted murder in the multiple-shooting of his brother, TJ Black, who survived and testified at a preliminary hearing last May.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://tinyurl.com/ny46gqg ) Davis changed his murder plea in February from not guilty, to not guilty by reason of insanity.

On Tuesday, Elko District Judge Nancy Porter ordered him to undergo an evaluation at Lake’s Crossing state mental hospital in Sparks.
