SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A shopkeeper at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf has been convicted of fatally shooting two neighboring merchants.

After a two-week trial in San Francisco Superior Court, 59-year-old Hong Ri Wu was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for killing Qiong Han Chu and Feng Ping Ou, both 30.

Prosecutors accused Wu of killing Chu and Ou on Jan. 30, 2011, because his own business had suffered when the victims kept selling the same knockoff purses that he was also trying to sell at his store.

San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/Oe9oOm ) that Wu admitted shooting both victims.

The Chronicle says because of the two first-degree murder convictions, Wu faces a potential life sentence without parole.

He is scheduled to be sentenced May 16.
