“Miss. governor signs midpregnancy abortion ban” (Web, April 23) states that the bill “does not provide exceptions for … rape or incest.” This is in agreement with Deuteronomy 24:16, which says, “Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents.”

Abortions for incest or rape are wrong because they punish (by murder) innocent children. If we want to be honest, we would admit that many abortions are performed because of the sins of the father or mother.

If the pregnant woman can’t or doesn’t want to keep and raise the baby, she can always turn the baby over to a hospital under safe-haven laws. What she might consider to be a burden or a curse for her could become a blessing for a couple looking for a child to adopt.
