John Boehner mocks GOP colleagues’ opposition to immigration reform

- The Washington Times - Friday, April 25, 2014

House Speaker John Boehner says that when it comes to fixing the nation's immigration system, his GOP colleagues in the House are bent on taking the "path of least resistance."

During an appearance at a local rotary club in his congressional district in Ohio, Mr. Boehner adopted the voice of what sounded like a whiny child and said of Republicans on Capitol Hill: "Here's the attitude: 'Ohhhh, don't make me do this. Ohhhh, this is too hard.' "

"We get elected to make choices," Mr. Boehner said. "We get elected to solve problems, and it's remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don't want to," adding that "They'll take the path of least resistance."

The Cincinnati Enquirer said Mr. Boehner went on to assure the crowd that he has been pushing to fix the broken immigration system.

"I've had every brick and bat and arrow shot at me over this issue just because I wanted to deal with it. I didn't say it was going to be easy," he said, the Enquirer reported.
