MONTCLAIR, N.J. (AP) - Two firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in northern New Jersey.

Authorities tell The Record (http://bit.ly/1lTzx0y) that the fire broke out shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday in the basement of a home on College Avenue in Montclair, not far from the campus of Montclair State University.

One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and the other injured his knee, but neither injury is considered serious. A married couple who live in the home escaped unharmed.

The fire was confined the basement, but did cause some smoke damage upstairs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
