SMITHVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The town of Smithville is dedicating its new government complex, the last municipal building to be rebuilt after a 2011 deadly tornado.

The Monroe Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1iVtU2p ) the event will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday with a speech by Mississippi first lady Deborah Bryant. Tours will follow.

Officials broke ground for the building on Mississippi Highway 25 on Oct. 13, 2013. Century Construction built the new facility and Broaddus and Associates were the project managers.

The north Mississippi town was devastated by the storm, which struck on April 27, 2011.

The tornado killed 16 people. Authorities said 153 homes, four churches, the Town Hall, the police headquarters and 14 of the 15 businesses in the one-square-mile town were destroyed.
