PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona wildlife officials are planning to stock a hatchery with thousands of young trout to boost fishing activity in Mohave County.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department says it will put 21,000 juvenile rainbow trout in the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery, which is along the Colorado River south of the Hoover Dam.

Chris Cantrell, fisheries chief for the agency, says the move will create immediate opportunities for anglers this fall, especially in the Bullhead City area and Willow Beach.

Game and Fish, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Mohave County officials say they are researching long-term solutions to supply trout for fishing.

The hatchery lost 20,000 fish last November because of a lack of water movement and has been unable to stock any fish for sport since then.
