MONTPELIER, La. (AP) - Officials say a fire destroyed the Bear Creek Saloon in Montpelier (mon-PEEL’-yay), just hours after rock and country star Aaron Lewis had performed.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says the fire began shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday and required more than 75 firefighters from several fire departments to fight the fire.

Browning say the blaze did not reach the adjacent Bear Creek Western Store.

He says investigators have been unable to begin their probe of the blaze because the remains of the building were still too hot for anyone to get close to the building.

He says arson is not suspected at this point of the investigation.
