Here is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for April 2 and also available on the Internet at http://www.txfishing.com :

CENTRAL

BASTROP: Water clear; 62-66 degrees. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs over brush piles. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait, shrimp, and minnows. Yellow catfish are slow.

BELTON: Water clear; 58-62 degrees; 9.63 feet low. Black bass are good on Rat-L-Traps and spinnerbaits. Hybrid striper are good on downriggers. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows around structure under lights at night. Channel and blue catfish are good on hot dogs. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines and throwlines baited with live perch. Boats, livewells, and bait buckets must be drained of all water before leaving the area. BROWNWOOD: Water stained; 59-63 degrees; 10.77 feet low. Black bass to 10 pounds are good on crankbaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs around docks in 4-8 feet. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

BUCHANAN: Water stained; 61-65 degrees; 31.08 feet low. Black bass are fair on pumpkin Curb’s jigs, jerkbaits, and Carolina rigged JDC lizards along break lines and ledges. Striped bass are good drifting live bait in 25-35 feet, and trolling white/chartreuse Curb’s striper jigs and crankbaits. White bass are fair on slabs and crankbaits in creeks. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

CANYON LAKE: Water murky; 61-65 degrees; 8.45 feet low. Black bass are fair on jerkbaits and Texas rigged Scoundrel worms on shaky jigheads in 20-25 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows and Blade Baits along the main river channel. Smallmouth bass are fair on JDC smoke/red flake tubes and tomato red drop shot worms over rock piles. Crappie are fair on minnows upriver. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

COLEMAN: Water clear; 60-64 degrees; 16.32 feet low. Black bass are fair on soft plastics and Rat-L-Traps. Hybrid striper are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) No report available.

FAYETTE: Water stained. Black bass are good on green pumpkin Carolina rigged soft plastics off deep points, and on spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps, and soft plastics in shallow areas. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp, nightcrawlers, and stinkbait.

GRANBURY: Water stained; 59-63 degrees; 10.02 feet low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse/black soft plastics and Rat-L-Traps over grass. Striped bass are fair on silver striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are slow.

GRANGER: Water clear; 61-65 degrees; 0.16 feet high. Black bass are fair on white spinnerbaits and soft plastic worms upriver. White bass are good on pet spoons and spinnerbaits at Dickerson’s Bottom. Crappie are slow. Blue catfish are fair on juglines baited with shad and cut bait in 5-20 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

LBJ: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 0.30 feet low. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are fair on white striper jigs. White bass are fair jigging Curb’s jigs and Pirk Minnows. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

NAVARRO MILLS: Water murky; 59-63 degrees. Black bass are slow. White bass are fair on Li’l Fishies. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on chicken livers and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

PROCTOR: Water stained; 60-64 degrees; 8.58 feet low. Black bass are fair on watermelon Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair trolling crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on live shad and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.
