FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - Grass fires at Fort Hood that have burned more than 1,000 acres on two ranges are mostly contained.

Fort Hood officials on Wednesday said the two fires are 90 percent contained.

A statement from the Central Texas post says the fires do not pose a danger to any homes or structures. Nobody has been hurt.

One grass fire originally reported Monday afternoon grew to nearly 500 acres. A second grass fire has burned nearly 600 acres.

Fort Hood is about 70 miles north of Austin.
