FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) - The third annual Women Veterans Summit will be held this weekend in Franklin.

The event will be on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Embassy Suites-Cool Springs.

In addition to several speakers, attendees will also hear Lynne Hutton-Smith’s compelling story of how Iraqi troops held her and her 2-year-old daughter hostage in Kuwait and how American service members rescued them.

A panel of VA experts will also discuss changes in federal benefits and health care for female veterans.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, there are more than 52,000 female veterans in Tennessee.
