HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - In the first TV ad of her gubernatorial campaign, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz is stressing her role in the creation of Pennsylvania’s Children’s Health Insurance Program.

A campaign spokesman says Schwartz’s ad began airing Monday in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets and that her air war will continue through the May 20 primary.

Schwartz, the last of the four Democratic candidates for governor to take to the airwaves, says the passage of the CHIP program in 1992 showed her leadership and advocacy skills as a state senator. The ad is titled, “Got It Done.”

Schwartz notes that the state program, which provides low-cost health care for children, was a model for the national CHIP program approved in 1997.
