ROANOKE, W.Va. (AP) - An April 15 public meeting is scheduled on a proposed hydropower project at Stonewall Jackson Dam in Lewis County.

Mahoning Hydropower LLC proposes operating an existing hydropower plant at the dam that’s no longer operational. The company has filed a notice of intent regarding the project with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Mahoning owner Anthony Marra tells The Exponent Telegram (http://bit.ly/1q9o3qq ) that water released at the dam would be captured and used to produce renewable electricity.

Marra says the company will address concerns about the project during the public meeting. The meeting will be held at Stonewall Resort.

The dam is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
