What can go wrong? Syrian rebels now using American TOW missiles

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Videos of American-made anti-tank weapons systems in the hands of Syrian rebels are turning up online, indicating that the Obama administration may be knowingly arming them.

The M220-series TOW heavy anti-tank weapons system has appeared in multiple videos by the rebel group Harakat Hazm, global information forecaster IHS Jane's reported Monday.

The weapons system has been exported to Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran, complicating analysts' ability to identify how the rebel group acquired it, IHS reported. Saudi Arabia and Turkey support the Syrian rebels, while Iran is a backer of the Assad regime.

IHS believes that it is unlikely that the heavy weapons would have been supplied to the Syrian government and then captured by rebels.
