DETROIT (AP) - Chairs have been placed around the Scott Memorial Fountain on Detroit’s Belle Isle in an effort to make it more of a comfortable gathering place.

The Belle Isle Conservancy installed the chairs, which were designed with state help to fit the character of the historic fountain. The fountain now operates seven days a week through Labor Day in a partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The chairs were donated.
