GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A Hall County judge has ordered the county’s civil services board to hold a second vote on reinstating two sheriff’s deputies who were fired after an inmate escaped from custody at the county courthouse.

The Times (http://bit.ly/1uo7g9H ) reported Tuesday that a Hall County Superior Court Judge ruled the board’s decision to reinstate the two deputies violated open meetings laws because the vote took place during an executive session. The newspaper reports the proceedings and announcement of the vote took place in public.

Two deputies were fired from the Hall County Sheriff’s Department in July 2013 after a man who was being led back to a jail bus with other prisoners slipped out of line. Authorities have said the deputies didn’t have inmates lined up properly and failed to monitor them.
