LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas authorities say a Pine Bluff police officer shot a man she knows during an altercation in her home.

State police say Lt. Denise Richardson shot 44-year-old Percy Smith early Friday morning. They say Smith drove himself to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

A state police spokesman says the pair is “acquainted with one another,” but he couldn’t provide further details. He tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/1uCnLPt ) that he cannot discuss an ongoing investigation.

A Pine Bluff police spokesman says Richardson is on administrative leave. He also said he couldn’t provide further comment because it would be inappropriate to comment on another agency’s investigation.

State police will continue to investigate the shooting.
