GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Fire captain Keith Boston has been promoted to assistant chief in Greenville.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (http://bit.ly/VclJGv) the promotion was announced by Fire Chief Ruben Brown.

Boston replaces Randy Ray, who stepped down as assistant chief in July after 25 years of service.

Boston had served as a captain since January 2007. He joined the department in October 1996 after five years with the Scott Volunteer Fire Department in his hometown.
