BLANCHARD, Mich. (AP) - Visitors from around mid-Michigan took part in a farm meal and tour.

Called “Breakfast on the Farm,” the Michigan State University Extension event was held Saturday at De Grins Oer Dairy in Blanchard.

Following breakfast, visitors took a tour of the farm.

With 21 stops, it featured cow milking, a veterinarian setting up to do ultrasounds, a hoof trimmer, play areas for children, informational tents and a station where children could make smoothies using power from riding a bicycle instead of electricity.

Melissa and Brad Wachler of Mount Pleasant brought their children, Parker, Braiden, Arianna and Ellie, to the farm.

Melissa Wachler tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant (http://bit.ly/1Amr9ys ) she thought it would be a fun family activity and a good way to show the children how farms operate.
