MILAN, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s Barry Camp Wild Game Culinary Adventure weekend still has openings for its September session.

The event is one part comfortable camping, one part cooking classes and one part camaraderie

The New Hampshire Fish and Game department is coordinating the weekend in the woods Sept. 26-28 at the Barry Conservation Camp in Milan. Co-sponsors include the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation and the Belknap County Sportsman’s Association.

A $150 fee covers meals, instruction and lodging. Proceeds go to the Barry Camp Fund.

Participants will get hands-on instruction on dressing wild game, cutting meat, planning game menus, and preparing wild game for cooking. The camp is limited to 35 participants age 18 and older. Fish and Game officials say groups of friends and family members often participate in the camp.

Check in time is 5 p.m. Friday and the program wraps up at noon on Sunday.

“This is a real backwoods culinary adventure that will prepare you to savor the flavors of the wild,” said event organizer Gary Sleeper of the Belknap County Sportsmen’s Association. He urges outdoorspeople to come and enjoy a weekend in the White Mountains while learning from experienced wild game chefs.
