KENILWORTH, N.J. (AP) - Kevin Purcell will become the executive director of the New Jersey State Golf Association effective January 1.

NJSGA president Frank O’Brien announced the hiring on Monday.

Purcell has been the general manager for golf courses in Bergen County. He replaces Steve Foehl, who has served since 1989 as executive director and is stepping down at the end of the year. Foehl will still be involved with the association in special projects.

A graduate in business administration from the University of Tulsa, Purcell has been recognized by Golf Inc. for his golf-course renovation and by Golf Digest for his initiatives in junior development.

Now in its 113th year, the NJSGA serves more than 275 clubs, courses and organizations representing more than 100,000 golfers throughout the state.
