FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says former Miami associate athletic director Chris Freet has been hired and will lead the Razorbacks marketing and public relations efforts.

Freet’s title at Arkansas will be senior associate athletic director for external operations and strategic communications. He replaces Mike Waddell, who left for a position at Illinois.

Freet spent the last four years at Miami where he was in charge of communications, marketing and ticket sales. His duties will be similar at Arkansas, where he’ll also oversee the school’s licensing and the Razorback Sports Network.

The University of California at Santa Barbara graduate has also worked at South Florida and Oklahoma in his career, and he begins at Arkansas on Sept. 2.
