Wildfires are surging through the Northern California town of Weaverville, forcing about 150 homeowners to evacuate and threatening another 500 or so with destruction.
The fire's also putting in jeopardy about 20 businesses and facilities, including the local airport and high school, The Associated Press reported.
Lilly Wyatt, a spokeswoman with the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, said about 380 firefighters were on scene. The fire sparked Sunday by the town's main road and quickly spread across 650 acres, AP reported.
