JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - The family of businessman Johnny Allison is donating $5 million to the Arkansas State University athletic department’s “Centennial Expansion” project to upgrade the university’s football stadium.

The gift announced Tuesday will help fund construction and renovation projects at Centennial Bank Stadium.

The project includes renovations to the stadium press box and adding 42 loge boxes, 20 suites, and 300 club seats. There will also be improvements and additions to concourse bathrooms, concessions, gating and ticketing areas.

Allison played on the 1968 A-State football team, and he later served on the ASU Board of Trustees from 1979-84, serving as chairman in 1983.
