WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - Mountain biking is a new club sport for teens in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin High School Cycling League includes middle and high school riders who compete in a series of fall races that culminates with championship competition at Cascade Mountain in Portage.

The league kicks off with 19 teams across the state, including the Wausau United Ride, which includes riders from several schools in Marathon County. Organizers expect 120 to 180 boys and girls to compete in the races.

Wausau West freshman Hanna Mork is one of the members of Wausau United. She tells Daily Herald Media (http://wdhne.ws/1qibYTl ) she’s been racing mountain bikes since she was 7. Mork says the she likes the sport because no one is benched and because she gets an adrenaline rush from riding fast.
