It seems Vice President Joseph R. Biden can add another gaffe to his already-impressive list. During his speech Tuesday at the United States-Africa Business Forum, Mr. Biden referred to the entire continent of Africa as one “nation.”

“If Africa’s governance and institutions can put its people in a position commensurate with their possibilities, the sky is the limit,” the vice president said. “I mean, it is limitless.

“There is no reason the nation of Africa cannot and should not join the ranks of the world’s most prosperous nations in the near term-in the decades ahead,” he said.

Africa is a continent made up of 54 separate countries, including island nations.
