Obama: ‘I have no sympathy for Hamas’

- The Washington Times - Wednesday, August 6, 2014

President Obama said Wednesday night he has "no sympathy" for Hamas in its battle with Israel, as a fragile ceasefire appears to be holding in the Middle East conflict.

"I have no sympathy for Hamas," Mr. Obama said at a news conference in Washington. "I have great sympathy for ordinary people who are struggling in Gaza."

The president said he is hopeful that the parties can build on a 72-hour truce.

A new CBS news poll Wednesday showed Americans aren't pleased with Mr. Obama's handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict, with 55 percent disapproving of his handling of the situation and only 33 percent approving.
