BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A woman was rescued from her car after it crashed into a Boynton Beach canal.

A firefighter pulled the woman from the vehicle Sunday afternoon. She was unconscious when Steven Permenter got her out of the car.

Permenter told the Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/1AP1vSC ) the woman was floating in the passenger seat when he reached her.

The woman was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities haven’t released her name or said why the vehicle plunged into the Palm Beach County canal.
