KILMARNOCK, Va. (AP) - Bon Secours Virginia Health System has finalized its acquisition of Rappahannock General Hospital.

Rappahannock General will join the Bon Secours system on Dec. 31.

The health care organizations announced the merger in February. The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1reAzeH ) reports that Rappahannock General’s board of directors approved the deal earlier this month. The Virginia Attorney General’s Office also has approved the merger.

Bon Secours and Rappahannock General have had a clinical affiliation agreement since 2012.

Rappahannock General is located in Kilmarnock and serves Virginia’s Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
