STATESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A Chinese company is putting its North American headquarters in Statesville, creating 120 jobs.

The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1JNT8N3) that furniture company Homestar Light Industrial Co. is acting after it acquired the assets of the former Talon Systems plant in Statesville.

The company is spending $7 million and plans to increase employment at the plant from 40 to 160 by the end of next year.

Homestar makes ready-to-assemble furniture. Its products are sold through IKEA, Black and Decker and Akada Home.

Michael Smith with Statesville Regional Development says the headquarters will include marketing, engineering, management and design positions. The average salary will be around $50,000 per year.
