FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Highway crews are closing one lane of Interstate 95’s two-lane bridge northbound over the Great Pee Dee River north of Florence to fix a hole in the bridge.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation said the emergency repairs were needed Tuesday after the hole appeared in the pavement on the bridge around mile marker 175, exposing the steel bars underneath.

The DOT says crews hope to finish the work by the end of Tuesday.

Crews have recently had to repair holes in bridges along Interstate 77 in York and Chester counties.
