LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) - A 58-year-old Kapaa man was killed Saturday as he tried to cut down a tree in Kokee.

The Garden Island (http://bit.ly/1B22zSO) reports Adrien “Eddie” Malina was attempting to cut down a tree near his cabin and was using a utility boom truck to reach it.

A second tree leaning against the tree he was cutting fell and hit an unused utility line.

Malina was pinned between the bucket on the boom truck and the line.

Bystanders cut the unused utility line to free Malina.

Kauai Fire Department medics arrived and transported him to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
