LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a California man is lucky to be alive after being struck by a ricocheting bullet while target shooting in western Arizona.

The Today’s News-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1ADDEah) that 50-year-old David Wayne Galdi was wounded by a ricocheting bullet from his own gun while shooting near Fort Mohave on Sunday.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office says Galdi was transported to a hospital with a wound to the left temple caused by metal casing from the bullet.

However, the wound wasn’t life-threatening and he was treated and released.

Deputies say no one else was injured and Galdi will not be charged.

Authorities also say Galdi was lucky he didn’t do more damage.
