CORONA, Calif. (AP) - A 4-year-old girl with Down syndrome who had an expensive wheelchair stolen from the front of her family’s home in Southern California received a new one on Monday.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/13WQzrG ) a convoy of police officers in Corona delivered a new replacement wheelchair for Jocelyn Ordonez on Monday. Police vehicles rolled up to her house with emergency lights flashing.

Police said word about last week’s theft spread and they were inundated with calls and emails with offers of assistance. The nonprofit group San Diego Down Syndrome used donations to purchase the $2,500 replacement wheelchair for Joselyn.

Coincidentally, police received a tip on Monday and located the stolen wheelchair. Officer Jesse Cervantes says they don’t have a suspect in the theft, but they plan to return it to Joselyn.
