FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP) - Army officials in Fort Knox, Kentucky are seeking comment from the public on future reductions.

Fort Knox and Department of the Army headquarters officials will be holding a community listening session on Jan. 6.

The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

It’s intended to provide area leaders and residents a forum to comment on factors they believe Army leadership should consider when making decisions about force reductions and restructuring that could affect the greater Fort Knox area.

The Army must reduce and reorganize its force structure to achieve the fiscal reductions required by the Budget Control Act of 2011, while staying postured to best meet the nation’s defense needs.

Fort Knox’s session will be one of 30 Army installation sessions that will take place through March 2015.
