CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Hazelton has been given an additional two years for assaulting a prison officer.

U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld says 30-year-old Carlos Lupercio was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Clarksburg.

Ihlenfeld says Lupercio joined in a dispute between another inmate and a correctional officer in July. Lupercio hit the officer’s head and torso and jumped on his back.

Lupercio pleaded guilty to one count of assault of a correctional officer resulting in injury.
