MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Detours to Amtrak service in North Dakota are expected to end in January.

The company says its Empire Builder line will resume operating on its regular schedule and route starting Jan. 12.

Amtrak for months had to suspend westbound rail service from Fargo on its Empire Builder line and passengers traveling on to Grand Forks, Devils Lake and Rugby had to complete their journeys on buses.

The service disruption allowed BNSF Railway to make repairs to the line, which BNSF owns and Amtrak uses. The repairs were originally expected to last through Sept. 30.
