TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson developer says the actions and comments made by some Pima County officials have hurt his reputation and damaged his business prospects.

The Arizona Daily Star reports (http://bit.ly/1t2h5ph ) that Joseph Cesare filed a defamation suit against the county in federal court earlier this month.

The county has not yet filed an answer to the complaint.

Cesare is the main force behind Star Valley, a contested residential development near West Valencia and South Wade roads. He and the county have been at odds over building entry roads to the development and widening existing streets.

Cesare says a contract to sell 572 lots was terminated as a result of county comments and threats to deny future building permits in the development.

He says the cancellation means millions of dollars in lost revenue and potentially lost impact fees for the county.
