GENEVA, Ill. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man whose body was found face down in a creek on a suburban Chicago golf course.

The Geneva Police Department said Friday the victim is 74-year-old John A. Gaines, a longtime resident of Geneva. The deceased man was the husband of Geneva Chamber of Commerce President Jean Gaines.

A couple out golfing found Gaines’ body Friday afternoon at the Geneva Golf Club. Geneva Police Cmdr. Julie Nash says there is nothing to suggest foul play or criminal activity, but an investigation is underway. The Kane County coroner’s office is determining the cause of death.

St. Charles residents Barbara and Bob Telfer discovered the body when a golf ball went into the creek.
